Titanic - 03. Chains of gold
I see the hands that built the walls
But their homes are made of dust and straw
The rich sit high in towers of gold
While we wander in the shadows growing old
Oh chains of gold they weigh us down
Invisible hands they steal the crown
But the fire's in the hearts that break
We'll rise as one for freedom's sake
They take our sweat they take our time
Sell our lives for nickels and dimes
But the seeds we plant will one day grow
And tear apart the stones below
Oh chains of gold they weigh us down
Invisible hands they steal the crown
But the fire's in the hearts that break
We'll rise as one for freedom's sake
No more walls no iron bars
The earth is ours beneath the stars
The hands that toil the hearts that bleed
Will reap the harvest of our seed
Oh chains of gold they weigh us down
Invisible hands they steal the crown
But the fire's in the hearts that break
We'll rise as one for freedom's sake
No more walls no iron bars
The earth is ours beneath the stars
The hands that toil the hearts that bleed
Will reap the harvest of our seed
Oh chains of gold they weigh us down
Invisible hands they steal the crown
But the fire's in the hearts that break
We'll rise as one for freedom's sake
This came from watching hard-working people be ignored and worn down — it’s a song for those who build the world but are left with nothing, and a promise that we can rise together for something better.
